Philip Havens Solo Show I Quit
Listen to the Episode Below

My title for the show today is ….. I quit!

You can take this job and… Do you ever feel this way at work? Do you feel this way often? Perhaps it is time for a change. Perhaps you just need to take some time to evaluate what you are doing. Actually, this is exactly where I am at today. I have been struggling with the direction of my podcast over the past few months. I think what it comes down to is that I’m not really sure what you want.

What Are Your Small Business Challenges?

Every business faces challenges. Perhaps small businesses face even more challenges just by the very fact that they are small. Small sometimes means fewer people to jump in and help with challenges. Small sometimes means a limited budget available to address challenges. Small sometimes means there just isn’t enough time to get everything done. If you are thinking about starting your own small business, that is great. However, you need to think through potential challenges and how you will handle them.

Guest’s Opening Quote:

I’m not looking to set the world on fire with the sales of my stabilizers, but if I can pay for my own habit and buy myself a new bow and some new equipment off of my stabilizer sales, that’s kind of where I’m at with it.

About My Guest:

My special guest today, Mr. Jerry Sanford is the founder of Stealth Archery, based in Lincoln Nebraska. Stealth Archery has been designing bow stabilizer products for about 10 years for bowhunters and archery target shooters. Jerry works a full-time job and manages the Stealth Archery business on the side. Jerry and I are going to talk about how he does that today.

BF098: Do You Know How To Prioritize Your Time? Carrie Zylka

Carrie Zylka
Listen to the Episode Below

Series: Favorite Downloads

This is the next in a series of the most downloaded podcast episodes. If you missed this one the first time around, here is your chance to hear it. Do you have lots of good ideas about things to do or work to pursue? Do you ever actually take action on anything? Ideas plus action equals progress, learning, and maybe even failure, but ideas without action equals... well, not much really. Listen to Carrie Zylka talk about how she is able to manage her time with a full-time IT job at a major health provider, has a two-hour round trip commute, spend time with her husband, host two podcasts, be a wedding photographer, take care of a Percheron horse named Champ, and I think she even squeezes in some hunting somewhere.

Guest's Opening Quote:

Anytime anyone ever asks me what advice I can give to a new hunter or a female hunter or anything, it's the same thing every single time. Just do it. Just get out and do it. Give it a shot. What's the worst that happens? You don't kill anything? You fall down? Who cares?

About My Guest:

Carrie Zylka is from Wisconsin and she leads a very active lifestyle, balancing a full-time career with many "side" projects and activities. She was never a big fan of school and reflects back that she was pretty much a brat except when she was in the outdoors. You can read a pretty detailed biography here. Fast forward to today and now she is married, works full time in the health care industry, hosts multiple podcasts, is a fiction writer, owns and takes care of a Percheron horse named Champ, is a co-founder of the [Outdoor Podcast Channel][website3], and I'm certainly forgetting somethings. The bottom line is that she is busy, she works hard, she is full of ideas, she loves the outdoors, and she loves to encourage others to just get out and do something new.
